Metropolitan United Church 2023Metropolitan United Church (est. 1818) fosters sacred music in downtown Toronto. All are welcome, inclusive of faith, race, gender, and sexual orientation. Met’s programme includes regular services, two concert series, and five ensembles. Met Choir: mixed volunteer and professional adult group, rehearsals Thursday evenings, services on Sunday mornings and feast days. Met Choristers (dir. North Halton Community SingersThe North Halton Community Singers, with some 60 amateur singers, started in 1971. Rehearsals are at the Acton Heritage Town Hall every Monday night and we perform at various venues in Halton Hills. The choir is led by interim director Eleanor Wallace (Spring 2023) who has had a long and distinguished career as a music teacher in Georgetown and Oakville.

A non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, the North Halton Community Singers is a registered charity performing a variety of musical genres, including classical, pop and folk, and from sacred to secular. It has performed at Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall, the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, and also in Holland and Ireland.

Exultate Chamber SingersExultate Chamber Singers is an auditioned group of 30 skilled singers who perform a variety of chamber choir repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied, including many works by Canadian composers. Enriched by its members’ strong musicianship, varied ages, cultural backgrounds, and academic and professional credentials, Exultate forms a passionate, committed ensemble with a wide-ranging repertoire.

Under the direction of artistic director Mark Ramsay, the choir presents an annual four-concert series. In addition, the choir commissions and records new works, collaborates with guest artists, and supports aspiring young music professionals with singing and conducting opportunities. Milton Choristers are a four-part adult community choir who have entertained in the Halton Region for over 54 years. Our season runs from September to June with two major concerts, often including premium guest soloists and musicians. We sing a wide-ranging repertoire from classical to contemporary. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Knox Presbyterian Church, 170 Main St. East Milton. A love of singing, some sight reading and a sense of rhythm, as well as a sense of humor are definite assets.

The choir is dedicated to helping expand each person's musical ability, however members are also encouraged to spend time outside rehearsals to learn the music. Electronic midi files by section are also available for your learning assistance.

Peterborough Singers 2023The Peterborough Singers was founded in 1993 under the energetic and creative leadership of director Sydney Birrell. We are an auditioned 100-voice choir of adults and youth which attracts members and audience from Peterborough, the Kawarthas, and around the Lakeshore. We are committed to featuring new talent and each season we introduce one or more emerging soloists.

We perform four concerts each year: a Yuletide concert, Handel’s Messiah, an oratorio, and one concert dedicated to music outside the box of regular classical programming. For the 2023/24 season we will be performing Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and The Songbook of Elton John.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from September to May in Peterborough. We are especially looking for tenors and basses for our 2023/24 season.

Open Voices Community ChoirOpen Voices Community Choir (OVCC) is a non-auditioned, mixed-voice adult choir that was founded in 2001. The choir, under the musical direction of Andy Rush, sings fun and uplifting folk, world, sacred, and jazz music in four-part harmony. The choir is premised on the belief that community singing can be a nurturing, empowering and healing force.
