Achill is a 65-member, mixed-voice community choir, which strives to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment. We perform a vibrant array of choral music: classical, contemporary, and traditional.

Our artistic director, Shawn Grenke, is also director of music at Eglinton St. George’s United Church in Toronto and collaborative pianist for the Elmer Iseler Singers. Nancy Dettbarn is our outstanding collaborative pianist. This year we celebrate our 40th anniversary and have been invited to perform with a full orchestra at Eglinton St Georges.

From September to May, we rehearse weekly at Westminster United Church in Orangeville, and perform two concert series a year in Alliston, Bolton or Orangeville.

Enlivening Toronto’s arts community for more than 50 years, the award-winning Amadeus Choir is a semi-professional choir of auditioned voices from Toronto and the surrounding areas. The Choir champions the best of choral music and premieres works of Canadian and international composers through a self-produced Toronto concert series, guest performances, and special events. Known well beyond Toronto through tours, festivals, recordings, and national and international radio broadcasts, the Choir collaborates with many professional performing arts organizations in the GTA, and helps develop the next generation of Canadian choral artists through innovative professional development programs for emerging singers and composers. Bel Canto Singers is a four-part community choir. Under the guidance of our accomplished music director, Michael Morgan, members enjoy the rewards and challenges of a varied repertoire including classical masters, Broadway and movie tunes, opera choruses and pop songs. Founded in 1996 by Dan Surman, BFA, B.Ed, the Canadian Celtic Choir is a London-based SATB choir that has built a solid reputation as one of the most in-demand choirs in SW Ontario. Our artistic director and conductor is Paul Grambo, BMus, MMus and we are accompanied by Stephen Holowitz, B.Mus, B.Ed.

Our repertoire features songs primarily from Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, and the Maritimes. Recipient of the Mayor’s Award from the City of London for our cultural contributions to the city, the CCC won Most Popular Classical Choir at the Forest City London Music Awards in 2015. Launched in 2010, City Choir is an exciting non-auditioned SATB choir. We have five founding Directors - Waleed Abdulhamid, John Millard, Patricia O’Callaghan, Greg Oh, and Suba Sankaran, who are joined this year by Sophia Grigoriadis.

Open to all who love to sing, we perform music of many styles, as well as original compositions. We give two concerts and two cabarets a year. We have sung at the Tranzac Club, the Drake Underground, the Aga Khan Museum and Ismaili Centre, with the Mixed Choir in “Apocalypsis” (Luminato Festival), and in the “SING!” a Cappella Festival. Occasionally, choir members are invited to participate in other musical projects.

The Cummer Avenue United Church choir has returned to our newly renovated building at the corner of Cummer Ave. and Yonge St. Final work on the building, including the refurbishment of our three manual Casavant pipe organ is to be completed this spring. We are a group of volunteer singers, supported by professional section-leads, that provide strong musical leadership for Sunday morning worship services throughout the year. We offer a flexible program with a combination of small group ensembles and full choir. Plans are also in place for concerts and other musical events encompassing a wide range of musical styles.

Celebrating our 33rd year, Echo is a 30-voice, non-auditioned community choir, open to women from all walks of life. Echo performs at city-wide grassroots events, and traditionally holds Fall and Spring concerts. Echo aims to build a community with a strong, varied, and vibrant singing culture. Repertoire includes music from worldwide village singing traditions and newly commissioned music. Echo keeps membership fees accessible to all.

Etobicoke Centennial Choir (ECC) is an inclusive, SATB, auditioned choir dedicated to celebrating the art and joy of choral singing. We offer performances of diverse repertoire, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions and popular music.

ECC offers a challenging and supportive choral experience guided by professional artists. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday, September to June, from 7:30pm to 9:45pm at Humber Valley United Church in Etobicoke. Some choral experience and the ability to read music are required.

Exultate Chamber Singers is an auditioned group of 30 skilled singers who perform a wide range of chamber choir repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied, including many works by Canadian composers. Enriched by its members’ strong musicianship, varied ages, cultural backgrounds, and academic and professional credentials, Exultate forms a passionate, committed ensemble.

Under the direction of artistic director Mark Ramsay, the choir presents an annual four-concert series. In addition, the choir commissions and records new works, collaborates with guest artists, and supports aspiring young music professionals with singing, conducting, and composing opportunities. Healey Willan Singers is a chamber women's ensemble that rehearses and performs in the west end of Toronto. The Healey Willan Singers focuses on music by women's composers and lyrists, as well as more traditional works composed for the upper voices. This choir presents a two-concert season, with other engagements when opportunities arise. The music performed ranges from the medieval period (such as Hildegard von Bingen) to contemporary Canadian composers (such as Eleanor Daley).

The Jubilate Singers is a mixed-voice auditioned choir of 30-35 voices under the direction of Isabel Bernaus. The choir includes in its repertoire world music sung in original languages, orchestral choral works, and 20-21C choral pieces. We present three concerts a year, plus two community appearances. Our 2024/25 season will include a collaboration with the Wychwood Clarinet Choir and an Ontario mini-tour of "Roots and Intersections: Musical Traditions from the African, Jewish and Muslim Diasporas" with Denise Williams and guest musicians. Delighting audiences since 1993, the Karen Schuessler Singers (KSS) is one of Southwestern Ontario’s premier concert choirs.

Well known for its widely varied, accessible and innovative programming, KSS is led by founder and artistic director Karen Schuessler. Initially formed to perform Missa Gaia/Earth Mass, the choir has become a highly-respected performing arts ensemble of 50 professionally diverse and vocally dynamic singers, all sharing their passion for choral music.

KSS performs an exciting range of repertoire. Each year, the choir offers a three-concert season comprised of orchestral masterworks and concerts reflecting the culture in which we live as well as more popular fare. Music is central to worship at Leaside United Church. The rich music program includes the Chancel Choir and the Junior Choir.

The Chancel Choir consists of a group of approximately 20 voices. This includes a professional core and volunteer singers. The choir provides musical leadership at the Sunday 10:30am weekly worship services, and rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

The Junior Choir, under the leadership of Nancy Stewart, provides musical leadership and sings anthems several times a year. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:15pm.

London Pro Musica Choir (LPMC) was founded in 1970 as a chamber choir, organized and run by its members. We were the first, and remain the oldest, unaffiliated concert choir in London with a current membership of over 40 singers. LPMC has been led by some of Canada’s finest conductors, including Brian Jackson, Howard Dyck, Ken Fleet, Dr. Vicki St. Pierre, and Dr. Charlene Pauls. Our current Artistic Director/Conductor is Paul Grambo, B.Mus, M.Mus and our accompanist is Hayoon Kim, B.Mus, M.Mus, M.Ed.

Milestones in our history include winning the CBC Choral Competition, releasing 9 CDs, and premiering and performing many new works by Canadian composers such as Andrew Balfour, Gerald Bales, Lydia Adams, and local composers Oliver Whitehead, Stephanie Martin and Rod Culham. Milton Choristers are a four-part adult community choir who have entertained audiences in the Halton Region for over 55 years. Our season runs from September to May with two major concerts, often including premium guest soloists and musicians. We sing a wide-ranging repertoire from classical to contemporary. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Knox Presbyterian Church, 170 Main St. East in Milton. A love of singing, some sight reading, a sense of rhythm, as well as a sense of humour are definite assets.

The North Halton Community Singers, with some 65 amateur singers, started in 1971. Rehearsals are at the Acton Heritage Town Hall every Monday night and we perform at various venues in Halton Hills. The choir is led by music director Eleanor Wallace who has had a long and distinguished career as a music teacher in Georgetown and Oakville. Mark Peterson, a very accomplished musician, is our accompanist.

A non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, the North Halton Community Singers is a registered charity performing a variety of musical genres, including classical, pop and folk, and from sacred to secular. It has performed at Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall, the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, and also in Holland and Ireland.

Open Voices Community Choir (OVCC) is a non-auditioned, mixed-voice adult choir that was founded in 2001. The choir, under the musical direction of Andy Rush, sings fun and uplifting folk, world, sacred, and jazz music in four-part harmony. Oriana Singers offers exceptional music experiences for the public through the presentation of choral works, from early music to Broadway, pop and contemporary, commissions and premieres with an emphasis on Canadian content.

The Choir comprises about 60 auditioned voices under the baton of Lynn Janes, noted music educator, soloist and prize-winning conductor, accompanied by pianist, organist and composer Robert Grandy.

Oriana Singers assists in the professional development of area musicians who are featured as guest soloists and instrumentalists, and through collaborations with other cultural organizations. Music education opportunities such as workshops are offered to the broader community, and the Choir maintains a searchable database of its choral library, with scores available for loan or purchase.

Oriana is an auditioned ensemble of 24 amateur upper-voice singers who perform at a high artistic standard. The choir has a 50-year history, and this is our 14th season with artistic director Mitchell Pady at the helm. Oriana explores the possibilities in choral music for upper voices, collaborating with diverse artists to push the boundaries of typical musical expectations for upper-voice choirs. We foster the creation of Canadian choral music, regularly commissioning works from Canadian composers. In rehearsal we are focused but friendly, and maintain an inclusive, respectful and supportive environment. Oriana presents a three-concert series every year, and we welcome potential new singers to attend a rehearsal prior to scheduling an audition. The 65-voice choir, under newly-appointed artistic director Thomas Burton, champions the new and unusual in choral performance, commissioning and introducing new works and performing overlooked masterpieces. Orpheus has introduced audiences to many accessible works from the current generation of leading composers. The choir supports young emerging vocal talent through its highly respected Sidgwick Scholars Program and its newer Vocal Apprentice Program for high school singers. Winners of the 2018 Choral Canada Award for Outstanding Innovation, Orpheus continues to present an “expect something different” experience! The 2024/25 season will feature Ernst Bloch’s Sacred Service, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, The Atonement by Samuel Coleridge Taylor, and a program for choir and fixed electronics.

Pax Christi Chorale is a 100-voice auditioned choir that attracts a diverse base of passionate singers from across the GTA. We value partnerships and connections to enhance our knowledge, expand our reach, and strengthen relationships within and outside the choral community. Our overarching aim is to inspire audiences with thoughtful programming, from grand choral masterworks to contemporary compositions.

Under the artistic direction of Dr. Elaine Choi, Pax Christi Chorale presents five concerts in 2024/25, including “Christmas Through the Ages”, Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor with the University of Toronto Wind Ensemble and the premiere of We are Phoenix, a commission by Timothy Takach. We are also the guest artists in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in October.

The Peterborough Singers was founded in 1993 under the energetic and creative leadership of director Sydney Birrell. We are an auditioned 100-voice choir of adults and youth which attracts members and audiences from Peterborough, the Kawarthas, and around the Lakeshore. We are committed to featuring new talent and each season introduce one or more emerging Canadian soloists.

We perform four concerts each year: a Yuletide concert, Handel’s Messiah, an oratorio, and one concert dedicated to music outside the box of regular classical programming. For the 2024/25 season, we will be performing Mozart’s Requiem and the music of ABBA.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from September to May in Peterborough.

All voice, no limits! SoundCrowd is an auditioned community a cappella ensemble led by Founder and Artistic Director Scott Pietrangelo, with a maximum of 80 members. Solo and small group opportunities are open to all members for consideration each year. The group rehearses on Tuesday nights, 7:30 to 9:30pm at Knox Presbyterian (630 Spadina Ave.) and occasional Sunday afternoons, performing two major concerts each year in January and May/June as well as other performance opportunities as they arise. We are a vital musical presence in the Beach, with a reputation for artistic excellence, we are supported by professional orchestras and ensembles and we engage professional and emerging soloists in principal solo roles.

Our Artistic Director, Mervin W. Fick, has been transforming choirs, inspiring individuals and raising performance levels of community, church and professional choirs for over 35 years. One of the best gifts that Mervin brings to performances and to singers under his direction is his skill to inspire truly joyful singing.

Toronto Chamber Choir has held a prominent place in Canada’s early music scene since 1968. An accomplished group of 30-40 auditioned singers, TCC specializes in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, working with period instrumentalists, but also exploring music from other time periods and cultures. TCC usually gives two evening concerts and two afternoon “Kaffeemusiks” that contextualize our repertoire through narration and a multimedia component.

Rehearsals happen Wednesday evenings with occasional Saturday “retreats” featuring guest presenters. Adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols that are subject to continuous review, we rehearse at Church of the Transfiguration. We are currently seeking new members. Auditions are held anytime by arrangement with the director. We welcome diversity in our membership.

Founded in 1978 by Jean Ashworth Bartle, the Toronto Children’s Chorus (TCC) is a vibrant musical community that has been nurturing young voices for 46 seasons. Over the course of its history, the TCC has won numerous competitions and performed at such revered venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, and The Dom in Salzburg. In addition to their busy annual concert seasons, our young choral ambassadors have represented Canada on 31 international tours and seven national tours, most recently performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City in July 2023. After 15 years of artistic direction under Elise Bradley, MNZM, the organization welcomed Artistic Director Zimfira Poloz in the fall of 2022 to lead this world-renowned chorus comprised of over 300 young singers.

Toronto Classical Singers is the only choir in the country dedicated exclusively to the great choral/orchestral repertoire. Now in its 31th season, the organization continues to celebrate and contribute to the tradition of choral music in Canada.

The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir (TWMVC) was established in 1995 by its founding member and first president, Gwyn Roberts. The choir continues to grow musically under the direction of William Woloschuk and his principal accompanist, Matthew Coons. Our blend of traditional and contemporary music, all sung off book in accordance with tradition, appeals to a broad audience.

In September 2017, the Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir was invited to perform at the NAFOW (North American Festival of Wales) Gala in Rochester, New York as the featured guest choir. The next travel stop was Newfoundland, in Atlantic Canada in July 2018; we performed four concerts in the east coast of this great country. In July 2024, the TWMVC will perform for the Collingwood Music Festival. We seek to continue to grow by attracting new members!

Univox is a mixed-voice non-auditioned community choir for young adults. It serves the Bloordale community and the City of Toronto by offering spirited performances of choral music, both old and new. Performed works are primarily a cappella and span a wide range of the choral spectrum; Renaissance madrigals and motets, choral classics, modern composition, spirituals, and international folk songs.

The singers come from a diverse range of musical backgrounds; most have sung in choirs at different times in their lives. Univox aims to fill the niche for young adults who wish to continue to have a rewarding choral experience with others in their age group.

The Upper Canada Choristers is a mixed-voice community choir with a diverse, inclusive membership that interweaves fun with the commitment to musical excellence and vibrant community service. Past performances have featured collaborations with international choirs, local children’s choirs, professional instrumentalists and singers. Cantemos is an auditioned a cappella Latin ensemble within UCC. Led by Artistic Director, Laurie Evan Fraser, the choirs perform two varied choral programs annually. Weekly rehearsals for the Main Choir are Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road.

Cantemos rehearsals are generally on Saturdays. Since 2020, the choir has streamed rehearsals on Zoom and produced live-streamed concerts that are accessible on our website.

Vesnivka Choir, award-winning women’s ensemble established in 1965 by founding artistic director Halyna Kvitka Kondracki, has delighted audiences with its rich repertoire of Ukrainian liturgical, classical and traditional folk music. Its regular concert season comprises three major concerts in the GTA, including its popular annual Christmas concert. Vesnivka, together with its partner Toronto Ukrainian Male Chamber Choir (TUMCC), are often joined by area musicians and professional soloists. We are pleased to introduce co-conductor Nazar Lozynskyy. New singers for both choirs are welcome throughout the year; if interested, please contact us via the website. VIVA Singers Toronto is a not-for-profit family of choirs with a mandate to give members, ages four through adult, the opportunity to achieve artistic excellence in a singer-centred, collaborative choral community.

The VOCA Chorus of Toronto, a dynamic, auditioned ensemble directed by Jenny Crober performs a wide range of repertoire (including Canadian premieres) in collaboration with superb guest artists. Our new collaborative pianist is Dakota Scott-Digout. VOCA's season consists of concerts, cabaret fundraisers, outreach events and workshops with clinicians who have included Ola Gjeilo, Ivars Taurins and Dylan Bell.

VOCA will present a wide variety of contemporary selections by Andrew Balfour, Sarah Quartel, Ola Gjeilo, Sherryl Sewepagaham, Scott Macmillan, Donna Rhodenizer and others at our May 11 "Earth, Sea & Sky III" concert, featuring Suhashini Arulanandam and Alex Cheung, violin/fiddle; Laurence Schaufele, viola and mandolin; Sybil Shanahan, cello and Jamie Drake, percussion. Founded in 1996, the choir will begin its 29th season in September 2024. The choir presents a three-concert season, plus other engagements, when required, with various musical organizations in the GTA. In October, the choir will join the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra in their presentation of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of its premiere. The choir's regular season concerts are in December, March and June, with performances including a wide range of choral works set in various languages. Our final concert of this 2023/24 season will be on June 1st, with a performance of the All-Night Vigil by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Beautiful melodies, rocking sax solos, inspired new jazz arrangements of Handel’s Messiah – if any of this appeals to you, read on. The Waterloo-based Wayne Gilpin Singers is an auditioned (a singer-friendly audition, we promise!) chamber choir that sings a wide variety of music, including contemporary Christian, gospel, show tunes, spirituals and more. Resident composer/accompanist Andrew Gilpin pens unique arrangements for an ever-expanding “Jazz Messiah”, an annual event that twins Handel’s beautiful melodies with modern rhythms and musical styles. Also featured in concert are talented guest artists on bass, drums, saxophone, violin, and guitar, providing an unforgettable musical experience for both audience and choir.

We are a mixed-voice, secular community choir serving Roncesvalles/Parkdale/Junction and surrounding communities. We perform two concerts per season, as well as guest appearances at other community events, such as the Sorauren Park Pumpkin Parade and the Roncesvalles Tree Lighting Ceremony. Music is a mix of pop, contemporary choral, folk, and musical theatre. Our vibe is fun and social, with a focus on community engagement and shared music-making.

We have a mix of seasoned choristers and novices, and there are no auditions. We value diversity of gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, education, and political perspective and are open to all. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9pm at Roncesvalles United Church. Scholarships are available, with priority to equity-seeking folks.
