Metropolitan United Church (est. 1818) fosters sacred music in downtown Toronto. All are welcome, inclusive of faith, race, gender, and sexual orientation. Met’s programme includes regular services, two concert series, and five ensembles. Met Choir: mixed volunteer and professional adult group, rehearsals Thursday evenings, services on Sunday mornings and feast days. Met Choristers (dir. Dr. Jennifer Martyn): children’s choir, rehearsals on Sunday mornings. Met Handbells: a fun-loving, three-octave Level 3 ensemble, rehearsals Thursday evenings, performances five times per season. Met Silver Band (dir. Fran Harvey): English-tradition brass band, rehearsals Tuesday evenings. Great Heart (dir. Dr. Ben Stein): youth band, performs pop music around social-justice themes.
