Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to start planning your musical activities, whether you are an avid amateur musician, professional, or looking for music education programs for children.

Regardless of your level of skill, there are many options to consider - we're adding profiles as they come in, so check back often to discover an array of ways for you to sharpen your aptitudes, discover new ones, and make lifelong associations and friendships this summer. COC Summer Music CampsCOC Summer Music Camp invites young creatives entering grade 1 to first year university to learn about composition, drama, and design. Campers are supported in a creative and non-competitive environment where they will learn and experiment with diverse modes of artistic expression such as singing, composing, movement, drama, and design. Through the creation of their own original performance, campers will work with professional teaching artists to hone creative skill and explore various areas of the performing arts, culminating in a final showcase for family and friends. No previous experience with music required.

Interprovincial Music Camp 2024Interprovincial Music Camp is Ontario’s most comprehensive residential summer music camp. It has been running for over sixty years, offering programming in beginning band, band, orchestra, jazz, rock, musical theatre, and songwriting. Our faculty includes Canada’s finest performers and educators, with several Juno and Grammy winners.

The IMC experience is all-inclusive, providing housing, meals, classes, sectionals, large and small ensembles, faculty concerts, recreational activities, and evening programs. Each session, IMC concludes with performances for family and friends.

In this two-week intensive program, participants will strengthen their personal musicianship and pedagogical skills, with content grounded in a contemporary understanding of the philosophy inspired by Zoltán Kodály.

Participants will engage in supportive musically educative opportunities through singing, reading, writing, moving and creating to build personal skills and knowledge to assist in classroom music teaching and learning.

Level I is appropriate for experienced teachers, emerging teachers and graduate students. Level II builds on the learning in Level I and is open to those who have successfully completed a KSC or OAKE certified Kodály Level I course.

Stratford Summer Music's Jazz AcademyThe Stratford Summer Jazz Academy boasts a faculty of the very best musicians and educators from coast to coast. Specializing in improvisation and group collaboration, students will have the opportunity to learn in both individual and group settings, culminating in a final performance alongside faculty members as part of Stratford Summer Music.

The Academy’s focus will be primarily on developing essential skills, but also on internalizing new concepts. Every young musician has a unique voice, and the faculty will focus on allowing that voice to develop, whether through articulation, balance of sound, listening, vocabulary, or by simplifying the many mechanical aspects of each student’s chosen instrument.

Stratford Summer Music's Vocal AcademyThis year, Stratford Summer Music's Vocal Academy offers three separate sessions for interested singers - Art Song (with Kimberly Barber), The Cantatas of J.S. SummerStage The Magic FluteNo Strings Theatre, whose aim is to develop, empower and inspire the next generation of performing artists and Opera by Request, that performs all manner of operatic repertoire decided by the participants, present their 3rd collaborative season of summer opera at the MVL Farm. This summer's choice will be the well-loved, The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart, sung in German and with English dialogue. Once again our director will be Gregory Finney. Masterclasses with invited international industry professionals and artists mentors, opera excerpts and an opera pub round out the program and further enriches the experience for international emerging artists. Mozart's The Magic Flute also involves youth in the cast and a chorus, so there will be something in this program for all ages to enjoy!
