Ashkenaz FestivalNorth America’s largest celebration of global Jewish Music and Culture returns, with new venues and locations! 75+ acts and 250+ artists. A wide-ranging mix of Yiddish, Klezmer, Sephardic, Ladino, Mizrachi, Middle-Eastern and Latin Jewish styles, all mashed up with pop, soul, folk, jazz, bluegrass, world music, and more! The fun begins with the eclectic “Summer Jam” concert series (Mondays, July 13 and 27, August 10 and 24), before the Festival proper kicks off on August 30 with our first-ever integration into “Pedestrian Sunday” in Kensington Market. Highlands Opera StudioCelebrating its 20th Anniversary, Highlands Opera Studio was established in 2007 in Haliburton by internationally acclaimed operatic tenor/vocal pedagogue, Richard Margison, and stage director/violist, Valerie Kuinka. We provide four weeks of creative opportunities, advanced career development and industry training to a select number of highly qualified emerging opera professionals from across Canada, including singers, pianists, and composers, and all Canadians attend the program at no cost. Performances this August 3 to 31 will feature 18 top artists in 13+ public events.
