Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, Highlands Opera Studio was established in 2007 in Haliburton by internationally acclaimed operatic tenor/vocal pedagogue, Richard Margison, and stage director/violist, Valerie Kuinka. We provide four weeks of creative opportunities, advanced career development and industry training to a select number of highly qualified emerging opera professionals from across Canada, including singers, pianists, and composers, and all Canadians attend the program at no cost. Performances this August 3 to 31 will feature 18 top artists in 13+ public events. Highlights include “Homecoming” - a Gala 20th Anniversary concert featuring program alums (August 16), Puccini’s Suor Angelica, featuring guest soprano Lauren Margison (August 22), and four performances of Don Pasquale.
