Entering its 45th season, the Toronto Children’s Chorus is recognized worldwide as a leading choral organization for children and youth. We are committed to offering exceptional, inclusive choral music education, while cultivating collaboration, leadership, self-discipline, and commitment to excellence. We have four distinct programs: KinderNotes, Training Choirs, Main Choir and Toronto Youth Choir. We are excited to welcome internationally acclaimed conductor, Zimfira Poloz, as our new artistic director.

Our season runs from September to June. Rehearsals are held on weekday afternoons and evenings. Choristers enjoy exceptional performance opportunities, and our Main and Youth Choir collaborate with esteemed arts organizations like the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The Chamber Choir performs nationally and internationally, most recently at choral festivals in New Zealand and Australia.

The Toronto Youth Choir is entering its 10th season, offering a space for innovation, inclusion and musical excellence for youth and young working professionals. TYC has performed with The King's Singers, Irish Youth Choir, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. They are a founding member of the Bridge Coral Collective.

SINE NOMINE was formed in 1991 to research and perform music from before 1500, and has given concerts in Canada, the United States, and the UK. The members have varied backgrounds in vocal and instrumental performance (wind instruments, fiddles, lutes, and percussion), musicology, and medieval history, language, literature, liturgy, theatre, and manuscript studies. In preparing repertoire, we draw on all these specialties, and work with improvisation and ornamentation, medieval pronunciations and tuning systems, hoping to create performances which speak to modern audiences (and would not have been wholly foreign to medieval listeners!) We blend vocal and instrumental music from medieval courts and churches with readings, and occasionally drama or liturgical action, to provide insight into the fascinating artistic and intellectual culture of the Middle Ages. SINE NOMINE is currently working on a project to present the diverse repertoire of a remarkable 14th-century northern Italian manuscript through both music and dance. Toronto Classical Singers is the only choir in the country dedicated exclusively to the great choral/orchestral repertoire. Known for its unique musical point-of-view and its diverse and high-quality programming, the choir features lesser-known and rarely performed pieces as well as the beloved vocal/orchestral repertoire. Led by founding conductor and artistic director Jurgen Petrenko, the group performs with orchestra and soloists in their presentations of the great choral masterpieces. With its exuberant approach, the group celebrates the choral tradition with the complex sonority of large choir with professional orchestra.

This season we are resuming our concert schedule in celebration of our 30 years contributing to the fabric of musical life in Toronto. On December 11 at 4pm, we will be presenting Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with soloists and orchestra. Our 30th anniversary concert will be on April 23 at 4pm, featuring celebratory music by Handel.

Join us this winter and spring for inspiration and joy while we look towards the next 30 years of thrilling choral music. Our concerts are presented at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge Street, Toronto.

The VOCA Chorus of Toronto, a dynamic, auditioned ensemble under the artistic direction of Jenny Crober, performs a broad range of repertoire in collaboration with a variety of superb guest artists. VOCA's seasons consist of concerts, cabaret fundraisers, community performances and workshops. Our talented, versatile accompanist is Elizabeth Acker. Some of VOCA's remarkable clinicians have included composer Ola Gjeilo, conductor Ivars Taurins and jazz musician Dylan Bell.

Our 2022/23 season will return with in-person sessions (and updated COVID protocols). VOCA's professional leads will be featured in a cabaret fundraiser on October 16. Our "Winter's Eve" concert on December 17, with Sybil Shanahan, cello and Daniel Morphy, percussion, will present works by Sarah Quartel, Astor Piazzolla, Ola Gjeilo and others. VOCA's annual Cabaret/Silent Auction will return on March 4, 2023. We will perform two concerts celebrating the night sky with Shawn Grenke, organ, Colleen Allen, sax, and Jamie Drake, percussion, featuring works by Andrew Balfour, Morten Lauridsen, Nicholas Ryan Kelly and others - first on April 28 at our Roy Thomson Hall debut, then on April 29 at Eastminster. Rehearsals are Monday nights at Eastminster (Chester subway).

Active among early music performers since 2012, Rezonance Baroque Ensemble is one of the most exciting groups on Toronto’s classical music scene. Unafraid of improvisation and experimenting with new concert formats, and already known for giving entrancing performances that resonate with today’s audiences, Rezonance is well on its way to becoming one of the foremost chamber music interpreters in Toronto. Inspired by history and informed by the present, Rezonance leads audiences through the discovery of under-appreciated and unusual works, and new ways of hearing the classics, in a manner that is intimate, accessible, and fun, while maintaining the highest possible artistry.

The Upper Canada Choristers is an SATB community choir in Toronto with a history of collaboration with choirs and professional guest artists. UCC is committed to excellence and diversity. Cantemos is UCC’s auditioned Latin-American ensemble. Founding artistic director Laurie Evan Fraser, and accompanist Hye Won Cecilia Lee, provide the professional musical leadership for this vibrant organization.

Despite the challenges we face in these uncertain times, the choir continues to meet and rehearse regularly in person and on Zoom, following protocols as advised by Public Health.

Our 2021/22 concert season opens with To Sit and Dream - Voices of Women, devoted to choral works written by women through the ages, including Ontario’s Sarah Quartel. The concert will be live-streamed from Grace Church on-the-Hill on October 1. On December 3, the choir will perform From Darkness Into Light featuring Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and non-seasonal music with themes of light. Our spring concert on May 13, “The French Connection”, features the Faure Requiem with baritone soloist Bradley Christensen.

Music at St. Andrew’s is a community outreach program of historic St. Andrew’s Church in downtown Toronto. This program was launched in 2011 with our purchase of a Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano, which we share with the greater community. The magnificent piano is used extensively in our free, mostly classical Friday Noontime Recitals featuring University of Toronto music students and professionals. The live, 45-minute recitals run from October-November and February-May. Join us October 7 for our new season launch.

On Saturday, December 3, our church will be decked with garlands and candles for an eclectic musical evening of sing-along carols and popular holiday favourites featuring jazz/pop, Celtic, Klezmer and steel pan performers. Free admission. Goodwill offerings accepted. More info on our website!

Alliance Française Toronto provides a culturally immersive experience through over 100 events every year, including concerts (classical, jazz, world music, pop, folk), theatre plays, art exhibitions, lectures, book launches, kids events, movie screenings, French classes for all ages and many other social events. Events take place in our 150-seat theatre and our art galleries.
