Highlands Opera Studio was established in 2007 by internationally acclaimed Canadian tenor, Richard Margison, O.C. and Canadian stage director and violist, Valerie Kuinka. It is an advanced professional training and career development program for 10-15 top-level emerging professional operatic artists chosen from across Canada and beyond. After a rigorous annual audition process, successful participants attend the 4-week program free of charge. In addition to the professional training, 13-16 concerts, masterclasses, outreach events, and fully-staged operas are presented to the public.

For residents of Haliburton County and operating year-round, the Highlands Opera Community School provides Pay-What-You-Can Singing Lessons, opera appreciation clubs, and other opera-centred educational programs and social activities.

Music at Port Milford Art & Healing Concert Series

In the face of strife - experienced internally, interpersonally, or internationally - where do we turn? This summer’s programs will provide reflections on the human capacity to heal - through cathartic expression, love, and community.

This season’s performers, known for their positions in celebrated string quartets (Verona, Cavani, Blair, Tokai) and as principal players of major orchestras (Toronto Symphony, Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, National Ballet Orchestra, Orchestre de l’Agora), return to the Port Milford stage for another summer of collaboration and connection in Prince Edward County.

This summer, the renowned Elora Festival is celebrating 46 years as Canada’s international choral festival, presenting world-class choirs and vocal ensembles over three weeks in July in the artists’ village of Elora, “Ontario’s most beautiful village”. From July 11 to 27, 2025, the Elora Festival will offer a stunning lineup of concerts and music experiences, featuring acclaimed international artists, talented soloists, and special venues. Highlights include The Elora Singers, Jeremy Dutcher, Chanticleer, The Gesualdo Six, Autorickshaw, and more, including intimate chamber performances, immersive musical experiences, and fun events for the whole family.

No Strings Theatre is set to unveil an exciting series of events from July 5 to August 17 for its 2025 ‘SummerStage’ season, commemorating its 20th anniversary. ARTCONNECT will highlight three distinct Summer Soundscape concerts: “Sophisticated Soul - Afrocentric classics and crossovers”, featuring soprano Denise Williams, Sean Sutherland, piano, Ben MacDonald, tenor sax, and Jan Morgan, trumpet; “Music of the Spheres” - a solo piano concert by Greg Millar, inspired by celestial bodies - such as the planets, and stars; “A Summer Cabaret” - Broadway classics led by David Stone and featuring some of TO’s first-rate singers.

Additionally, the SPOTLIGHT – Young Artist Opera Program will present two dynamic productions: Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, both set in a scenic rural farm in Adjala township.

Three giant opera steps over the ages! Join us for Toronto’s mini opera festival from July 25th to August 3rd at the historic Alumnae Theatre. Celebrating four decades of opera presentations by Canada's emerging artists, Summer Opera Lyric Theatre features Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea, Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte and Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne under the leadership of experts in the field - Sabina Rzazade, Minira Najafzade and Paul Goodfellow in fully staged operas by Guillermo Silva-Marin.

Founded in 1979 by pianist Anton Kuerti, the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, Ontario, has grown into one of Canada’s leading summer music festivals. Under the artistic direction of clarinetist James Campbell since 1985, it presents world-class performances in the renowned Charles W. Stockey Centre.
