Brookside Music hosts Festival of the Bay at the Midland Cultural Centre July 6 to August 24. In July, Tom Allen’s Bohemians in Brooklyn provide a mixture of cabaret, nostalgia, fun and phenomenal music, featuring Patricia O’Callaghan. Then join us on board Miss Midland for Huronia Hot Strings, Gypsy Jazz featuring eclectic violinist Leslie Dawn Knowles. Next, Valdy, Nadina & Karel serve folk to baroque on a score of bebop and swing. In August, pianist Philip Chiu, first recipient of the Prix Goyer – Canada’s largest prize for an emerging classical artist – performs Of Church and State. And finally, Louise Pitre is Chasing Rainbows – where Canada’s “First Lady of Musical Theatre” immortalizes the songs of Judy Garland.
