Hannaford Street Silver Band 2026The HSSB is Toronto’s award-winning professional brass band and resident company of Toronto’s St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts. In 1983, The Hannaford Street Silver Band was formed by a group of professional musicians with a love of the brass repertoire and ensemble playing. Since then, the HSSB has been reinvigorating the brass band tradition to critical and popular acclaim. Its mission is to honour the traditions of this art form and at the same time place them in a contemporary context with a uniquely Canadian point of view. The HSSB has redefined what a brass band is capable of by facilitating innovative creative projects and collaborating with the very best of Canada’s diverse cultures and outstanding artists.

Unique in its mandate and structure, the HSSB is the only fully professional ensemble of its kind in Canada and one of two in North America. Through its artistic excellence and ongoing advocacy of this art form, the HSSB has had a local, provincial, national and international impact. The HSSB stands apart in this musical genre in its pursuit of artistic creativity and musical innovation.

Now in its 14th season, Flute Street, Toronto's Professional Flute Choir, opens its four-concert series with “Ghost and Gargoyles” on November 1, featuring Canada's legendary flutist, Robert Aitken. Under the artistic direction of founder Nancy Nourse and with the nuanced conducting of Isaac Page, Flute Street is beloved for its exceptional and varied programming, depth and richness of tonal colours, precision in technical, rhythmic, and intonation matters, and above all, highly expressive interpretation. If you haven't already had the pleasure of hearing this delightful full-range chamber ensemble, comprised exclusively of flutists performing on nine different sizes of flutes from the tiny 30 cm piccolo through to Canada's only five metre double contrabass flute, be sure to set aside these Sunday afternoons at 4 pm: November 1, December 6, March 7, and May 30. All concerts are in the beautiful St Andrew's United Church, 117 Bloor Street East, conveniently located just steps from Yonge and Bloor. Come to hear flutes in an autonomous ensemble as you never have before!

Etobicoke Centennial Choir 2026Etobicoke Centennial Choir (ECC) is a SATB semi-professional choir dedicated to celebrating the art and joy of choral music with performances of repertoire ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions and music from around the world. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening, from September to June, at Humber Valley United Church in Etobicoke.

Our 2026–27 season marks a significant milestone in the choir's history as ECC celebrates its 60th anniversary. The season opener will feature Bach’s Cantata no. 140, Sleepers Awake, Galuppi’s shining Magnificat in G and Buxtehude’s Das neugeborne Kindelein (The Newborn Child), with accompaniment by a Baroque orchestra.

Brahms’ monumental Ein deutsches Requiem with orchestral accompaniment anchors an uplifting spring evening of music. The program includes Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine and Brahms’ lyrical Two Songs for Alto, Viola and Piano.

In closing, landscapes of day and night will be explored through Erik Esenvalds’ Northern Lights and Eric Whitacre’s luminous Lux Aurumque. New choral works from ECC’s own composers will be featured, alongside Night Songs, by Artistic Director Henry Renglich and Governor General Award-winning author and chorister, Sarah Henstra.

The Edison Singers 2022

The Edison Singers is a fully professional chamber choir founded and led by internationally acclaimed Artistic Director & Conductor, Dr. Noel Edison. Our vision is to reach out to communities large and small with the world’s finest choral music.

The Edison Singers draws from a pool of 35 professional singers with diverse cultural and work backgrounds. We include choristers of all gender expressions, ethnicities and physical abilities. Please submit audition requests along with resumes to Heather Fleming at coordinator@theedisonsingers.com.

We currently produce annual concert series in four Ontario communities: Toronto Area, Niagara Area, Brantford and Wellington County. These centres are the hubs for our seasons, and we aim to become an integral part of the musical life of each community, bringing hope, joy, and inspiration through the novel storytelling of choral music.

Over the years, The Edison Singers has been fortunate to receive funds and donations from the Ontario Arts Council and many private donors to help support our past and upcoming seasons and our international NAXOS recordings. Our newest NAXOS recording is of the Fauré & Duruflé Requiems, and will be released in the Spring of 2027.
