Music at St. AndrewsMusic at St. Andrew’s is a community outreach program of historic St. Andrew’s Church in downtown Toronto. This program was launched in 2011 with our purchase of a Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano, which we share with the greater community. The magnificent piano is used extensively in our free, mostly classical Friday Noontime Recitals featuring University of Toronto music students and professionals. The live, 45-minute recitals run from October-November and February-May. Join us October 7 for our new season launch.

On Saturday, December 3, our church will be decked with garlands and candles for an eclectic musical evening of sing-along carols and popular holiday favourites featuring jazz/pop, Celtic, Klezmer and steel pan performers. Free admission. Goodwill offerings accepted. More info on our website!

Amadeus Choir of Great TorontoThe Amadeus Choir is a semi-professional choir with 90 members from the GTA and surrounding communities. Each season, the choir presents a four-concert subscription series, in addition to performing with other choral and instrumental ensembles at concerts, public events, and benefits. Founded in 1974, the Amadeus Choir, now under the direction of Artistic Director and conductor Kathleen Allan, has become known for its professionalism, exceptional musicality, and diverse, high-quality programming.

For 2022/23, the choir will present a full season of live choral performances at a special subscription rate.

  • October 29, 2022: ‘Carmina Burana/Tubular Bells’ - Amadeus joins TorQ Percussion Quartet, the Bergmann Piano Duo, and the Toronto Children's Chorus for a choral experience like no other.
  • December 17, 2022: ‘Let Us All Be Merry!’ - Enjoy holiday favourites by Canadian composers with opportunities for the audience to sing!
  • April 2, 2023: ‘Vespers’ - Amadeus collaborates with the Guelph Chamber Choir to premiere new Canadian works and Rachmaninov's transcendent All-Night Vigil.
  • May 27, 2023: ‘Nîpîy's Songwalks’ - This finale includes the premiere of a new major work about Indigenous water sovereignty by Cris Derksen, with an immersive outdoor performance.

Don Wright Faculty of MusicDon Wright Faculty of Music at Western University in London, Ontario is situated in a research-intensive university on a campus that is inviting and striking. It is a supportive environment that enables students to grow artistically and academically, with a family-like atmosphere and strong focus on community. Our students are among 600 of the brightest and most talented young artist scholars, who come to study in one of our many undergraduate and graduate programs.

In our 2022/23 season, we are excited to welcome the public back into our venues in person to experience the incredible diversity of musical styles and genres our students, faculty and guest artists have to offer. Oriana Womens Choir 2022Oriana is an auditioned ensemble of 24 amateur upper-voice singers with a long history of performance at a high artistic standard. Led by artistic director Mitchell Pady since 2011, Oriana explores the possibilities in choral music for upper voices, collaborating with a diverse range of artists to push the boundaries of typical expectations for upper-voice choral performances. We foster the creation of Canadian choral music, regularly commissioning works from Canadian composers for upper voices.

Oriana presents a three-concert series in November, March and June. Our first concert of the 2022/23 season will feature Don McDonald’s Fire-Flowers song cycle, and premiere performances of works written by Matthew Emery, Ben Keast and Marie-Claire Saindon. In March we welcome renowned Canadian composer Stephanie Martin to curate a concert of her compositions alongside works that inspired her writing. In our spring concert we will perform all-Canadian repertoire including premiere selections written by composition students from the Claude Watson program at Earl Haig Secondary School, whose creations were mentored by our artistic team over the course of the year. We look forward to welcoming you to the concerts in our 51st season!

Orpheus Choir 2022Orpheus’ vision is to celebrate the power of choral music as an agent of social change and a passionate medium of artistic expression. The 65-voice choir, under artistic director Robert Cooper, champions the new and unusual in choral performance, commissioning and introducing new works and performing overlooked masterpieces.

Regularly working with living composers, and singing a wide range of repertoire in concerts with high production values, Orpheus has introduced audiences to many accessible works from the current generation of leading composers. Orpheus supports young emerging vocal talent through its highly respected Sidgwick Scholars Program and its newer Vocal Apprentice Program for high school singers.

Winners of the 2018 Choral Canada Award for Outstanding Innovation, Orpheus continues to present an “expect something different” experience! The 2022/23 season features the poetry of Leonard Cohen, music honouring Canada’s indigenous peoples, narrators Gabriella Sundar Singh and Amaka Umeh, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, an exploration of music and mental health in Allan Bevan’s Perfectly Mad, and much, much more.

Etobicoke Centennial ChoirAfter a joyous return to live performance in May 2022, Etobicoke Centennial Choir looks forward with great anticipation and hope to a full season of live choral music.

Entering its 55th season, Etobicoke Centennial Choir is an auditioned SATB community choir that enriches its choristers and audiences through inspired performances of diverse choral repertoire, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions and popular music.

ECC is an inclusive choir that welcomes new singers. We offer a challenging and supportive choral music experience, facilitated by our music director, collaborative accompanist and section leads. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:45pm at Humber Valley United Church in Etobicoke. Some prior choral experience and the ability to read music is recommended.

2022/23 Season Preview:

  • On December 10, 2022: ‘Sing We Joyfully’ features J.S. Bach’s stunning Magnificat, with vocal soloists and baroque orchestra.
  • On April 1, 2023: we welcome spring and have some fun on 'The Sunny Side of the Street', an eclectic concert of show tunes, folk songs, spirituals and popular music.
  • On June 3, 2023: ‘Musica Borealis’ will showcase beautiful and diverse music from Canada and other northern climes.
