The Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to present the 2023/24 Concert Season; a series of concerts, showcasing a harmonious blend of young talents and established guest artists. Each concert will offer a diverse musical experience, celebrating a broad repertoire ranging from classic to contemporary compositions, and works from women and black composers. Three concerts will take place at our main venue, Calvin Presbyterian Church, conveniently located at Yonge and St. Clair and easily accessible for our audience members coming from all areas in Toronto. We will conclude our season at Glenn Gould studio with an exciting presentation of classic theatrical works for singers and orchestra titled "Broadway Today". Since October 2008, the GTPO has successfully presented 15 seasons in various venues across the City of Toronto. While the majority of its regular season programs are presented in uptown Toronto, additional outreach and special events throughout the season allow the GTPO to draw on a wide audience base, both locally from uptown Toronto and beyond to other neighbourhoods and under-served communities. Led by a roster of professional guest conductors, the GTPO's reputation has grown each season.

Established in 2014, The Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP) offer opportunities for the discovery, creation, performance and celebration of excellence in music composition. Every two years, AMP offers four prizes: two celebrating the discovery and creation of excellent new Jewish Music; one for the creation of Canadian music; and the fourth that focuses on new works inspired by humanity’s diverse cultural heritage.
AMP is open to composers of all ages, genders, faiths and backgrounds. Full eligibility and submission guidelines are available on the AMP website. AMP also seeks to engage more composers and enrich the concert repertoire through its instrumentation cycle – 2024: Choral Music; 2026: Oratorio/Opera in Concert; and 2028: Chamber Music.
All Prize Laureates receive a prize package valued at $200,000 CAD, including a $50,000 cash award, a premiere in Montréal at the AMP Gala Concert, two subsequent international showcase concerts, and a professional recording for future commercial release. This makes AMP the largest competition of its kind in Canada and one of the most important in the world.

Counterpoint is the oldest LGBT+ orchestra in Canada and possibly the world. Founded in 1984 in the gay village of Toronto, Counterpoint is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the 2023/24 season. For most of that time, rehearsals have been held at the 519 Church St. Community Centre. Although COVID-19 caused some disruption to our concert schedule and rehearsal venues, we resumed concerts in June 2022 and are returning to the 519 this fall for rehearsals. Andrew Chung has been our Music Director since 2016.
This year's season will feature opera arias by Strauss, Mozart, Gounod and Puccini and a drag performer on December 9, 2023 a largely unknown flute concerto by Heinrich Hofmann and Beethoven's Coriolan Overture and the Eroica Symphony on March 23, 2024 and 20th Century music by gay/lesbian composers such as Bernstein, Britten, Barber and Ethel Smyth for the special anniversary concert on June 15, 2024.

This year’s 152-profile portrait of musical life in the Greater Toronto area and Southern Ontario has two segments: section 1 reflects the wealth and diversity of music presenters and performers in our region – orchestras, choirs, opera companies, chamber ensembles, etcetera; section 2 is for individuals and organisations providing services to artists in the communities we cover, predominantly artist managers and publicists.
