Barrie Concert BandBarrie Concert Band has been an integral part of the amateur music scene in Barrie since 1869 and is considered the oldest music organization in the City of Barrie.

Over the years the band has fulfilled a year-round musical role in Barrie by participating in various city events, presenting regular summer and winter concerts and providing music at local senior’s homes and churches, averaging about eight concerts per year.

The longevity of the Barrie Concert Band is due to its faithful membership, the City of Barrie’s financial support, sponsors, honoraria from some of their concerts and the loyalty and support of its audiences. This money is used to purchase new music and cover ongoing operating costs.

The Barrie Concert Band’s mission is to uphold and maintain the true spirit of the concert band. The ensemble’s goal is to enrich the lives of local musicians in a positive manner and to strive to continually improve and achieve high musical standards as well as enhancing the lives of community members.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our free or ticketed concerts and sharing our passion for music!

Esprit Orchestra 2022Esprit Orchestra is Canada's only full-sized, professional orchestra devoted to performing and presenting new music.

Founded in 1983 by Music Director and Conductor, Alex Pauk, Esprit’s commitment to commissioning and advancing contemporary music has set it apart as one of the few organizations of its kind on a global scale. Esprit consistently collaborates with outstanding composers, and performs with first-class soloists and ensembles from Canada and abroad.

Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation marks its 29th season under the continuing leadership of artistic director Eric Robertson. Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation has presented a rich variety of concerts for Toronto audiences, including its popular weekly recital series as well as international groups such as King’s College Cambridge Choir and St. John’s College Choir. It has also featured Canadian artists including David Hetherington, John McDermott, Colin Fox, Sharlene Wallace, Anne Lindsay, John Johnson, Guido Basso, the True North Brass, the Gryphon Trio, and NEXUS.

Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation is also involved in the “City Carol Sing”, a large annual charity event that raises money for food banks across Canada.

Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing the best in inspirational arts programming. It is governed by an elected volunteer board of directors and operates with the assistance of advisors from a variety of backgrounds, including event management, promotions, finance and business.

Nine Sparrows Arts Foundation, in cooperation with Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, begins its 2022/23 season on Tuesday, October 4th with the first recital in its weekly “Lunchtime Chamber Music” series.

Pax Christi ChoralePax Christi Chorale is a vital and ambitious 100-voice community choir that champions great choral music and performs a wide range of repertoire, from great historic masterpieces to newly commissioned works. Drawing on a broad base from across the GTA, the choir has built a loyal following, and continues to broaden its community and deepen its impact as a leading arts organization in the city. Pax Christi Chorale’s overarching aim is to experience the deep joys of choral singing, and to communicate that joy to our audience.

Under the artistic direction of Elaine Choi, Pax Christi Chorale presents four concerts over the 2022/23 season, including "Christmas Through the Ages" and "Children's Messiah" in December; "A Path to Hope", a celebration of Canadian resiliency during the COVID-19 pandemic in March; and "Beethoven’s Silence", featuring Jake Runested’s A Silence Haunts Me and Beethoven’s Mass in C in May. Rehearsals are held Monday nights at the Avenue Road/St. Clair area.
