The Bach Elgar Choir (BEC), founded in 1905, is one of Canada’s longest-running choral organizations and a cornerstone of Hamilton’s artistic and cultural life. Led by Artistic Director Alexander Cann, BEC presents a four-concert season featuring choral masterworks and innovative programming that engages both longtime audiences and new audiences. The choir regularly collaborates with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and leading Canadian artists. BEC has integrated film and newly commissioned scores, including Der Golem (2026), reflecting a rich legacy and a forward-looking vision that continues to shape Hamilton’s cultural landscape.
