At the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra, our vision is to create, perform and promote music so that the SPO plays a leadership role in helping to build a community that is more inspired, inclusive and united.

The SPO’s mission is to inspire our community through the presentation of high-quality concerts of symphonic and chamber music in both traditional concert series and in other formats and venues. We provide educational opportunities in music and the arts that are available to people of all ages and at all stages of their artistic growth. Through our programs, we will build, empower and develop artists and audiences in Scarborough and beyond.

2026/27, our 47th season, approaches this time of challenge and uncertainty and looks for ways that the arts can be a comfort. The Dvořák Cello Concerto, for example, which we are performing with Cameron Crozman, is so passionate and life-affirming. Prokofiev's Symphony is positive and beautiful – like a fairy tale without the villain. And the Brahms First Symphony reminds us of Beethoven’s Fifth. It starts in a minor key, but then, after it feels like our hero faces challenges, it moves to the triumphal major key to end. We hope audiences will find it all as captivating as we do.
