Opera York is the professional opera company of York Region. Founded in 1996, it presents full productions of traditional operas with chorus, orchestra and supertitles. Our home is the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, a theatre designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and a perfect acoustic venue for full opera. We are a platform for emerging Canadian opera singers, particularly from the York Region area and provide York Region residents the opportunity to enjoy professional opera right in their community. Our 2026/27 season includes full productions in November 2026, “The Barber of Seville”; February 2027, “Romeo & Juliet”; and July 2027, Summer Light Opera “The Gondoliers”.
