Nocturnes in the city started its programming in 2001, originally in a Prague restaurant in Scarborough, to present and promote Czech musicians and music to Canadian audiences. After five years, it moved the venue to the community hall of St.Wenceslaus Church on Gladstone Avenue. It usually presents six to eight performances per year of classical music, jazz and musical lectures.

In the past, the performers included pianists Anton and Karolina Kubalek; Adam Zukiewicz; violinists Ivan Zenaty; clarinetist Joachim Valdepenas; Peter Stoll, Panocha, Zemlinsky and Epoch quartets; Clarinet Factory from Prague; opera singers Eva Urbanova, Zdenek Plech, Gustav Belacek; and many others. Opera lectures include Iain Scott and Catherine Belya; jazz quintet of Drew Jurecka; George Grosman; and others.

The upcoming season - Zemlinsky quartet from Prague, Czech-Slovak Dixieland (led by Miro Letko), Czech pianist Boris Krajny, George Grosman jazz quartet, and Slovak baritone Josef Benci are all on the program. Music lovers can meet the artists after the performance with delicious catering from a local chef.

Performances are on Sunday at 5pm, with parking available, accessible via subway from Bloor-Dufferin.
