The organisation started in 2001 as Nocturnes at Masaryktown to present Czech and Slovak artists to Canadian audiences.
Nocturnes in the City began 25 years ago in the Czech community centre in Scarborough, and after five years, moved to downtown Toronto. The concert series promotes Czech music and Czech musicians.
This year, we are presenting the Zemlinsky String Quartet from Prague; Suzane Simurdova and Mikolaj Warszynski - duo pianists; violinist Ivan Zenaty with pianist Milan Kasik; and Miro Letko Dixieland. All concerts are at St. Wenceslaus Church, 496 Gladstone Ave., by Bloor and Dufferin subway. Modest price at the door.
