Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to start planning your musical activities, whether you are an avid amateur musician, professional, or looking for music education programs for children.

Regardless of your level of skill, there are many options to consider - we're adding profiles as they come in, so check back often to discover an array of ways for you to sharpen your aptitudes, discover new ones, and make lifelong associations and friendships this summer. CAMMAC Music Centre 2022Located on beautiful Lake MacDonald in the Laurentians, CAMMAC will offer eight week-long programs for musicians of all ages and abilities in 2022. Our programs take place in a relaxing, non-competitive environment, where you can play, meet people who share the same passions, learn from dedicated teachers, and discover new repertoire. COC Summer Opera Camps COC Summer Opera IntensiveRegistration is now open for the Canadian Opera Company's in-person Summer Opera Camps beginning July 2022. The annual programming provides youths and teens with the opportunity to make new friends, discover new interests, build self-confidence, and have plenty of fun, while exploring opera as both creators and performers. No previous experience with opera or music is required to participate in this program.

New this year, the COC introduces the Summer Opera Intensive. The one-week program (August 8 to 13) intended for advanced singers ages 18+, provides a framework for understanding and exploring a professional singing career, and is tuition-free for the 10 participants accepted through the audition and application process. Applications for this program are due Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Interprovincial Music CampCelebrating 61 years in 2022! IMC offers programs for orchestra, band, rock, jazz, choir, musical theatre, and songwriting. Lake Field Music 2022Lake Field Music camp brings together adult amateur musicians of all ages with intermediate to advanced skills in a friendly and supportive environment. The one-week program focuses on classical and jazz with a sampling of world and popular music. Participants build their own program from 50+ workshops, technique and master classes, choirs and instrumental ensembles coached by 20+ experienced instructors specializing in vocals, strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, guitar, bass and percussion. Stratford Summer Music Jazz Academy 2022The Stratford Summer Jazz Academy boasts a faculty consisting of the very best musicians and educators from coast to coast. Specializing in improvisation and group collaboration, students will have the opportunity to learn in both individual and group settings, culminating in a final performance alongside faculty members as part of Stratford Summer Music.

2022 Jazz Academy “Coast To Coast” Instructors – Jim Doxas, drums; Florian Hoefner, piano; Kelly Jefferson, saxophone; and Jodi Proznick, bass. Every young musician has a unique voice, and the faculty will focus on allowing that voice to develop, whether through articulation, balance of sound, listening, vocabulary, or by simplifying the many mechanical aspects of each student’s chosen instrument.

Stratford Summer Music Vocal Academy 2022Co-artistic directors Emily Hamper and Phillip Addis lead an internationally recognized faculty in professional vocal training. Opera: Each session includes public performance. Demo recording opportunities available for opera. In-person study takes place in individual/small-group sessions and masterclasses. Stringent COVID-19 safety measures will be maintained for all activities. We are looking for singers and pianists in the upper years of university/conservatory training or in the early years of a career. Bring your family to our day camp in the beautiful vacation community of Saugeen Shores on Lake Huron. We welcome students aged 4 to 94. Beginners can join Tots and Tunes for ages 4 to 6; Music and Art Exploration 6 to 9; and Beginning Band for all novices.

For more experienced players we teach classes in the brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. There is also a class for jazz instrumental performance. 

For vocalists we offer two classes of Musical Theatre, organized for age groups 9 to 11, and for 12 and up, and a class in vocal jazz. Check out our website for details and online registration!

Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute 2022VSOI is a world-class summer music program taking place virtually and in-person at the VSO School of Music, from July 4, offering students aged 14-28 a one-of-a-kind experience through three connected programs: a Professional Training Program and a Young Musicians Program (both online) and the In-Person Chamber Program.
