Pax Christi ChoralePax Christi Chorale is a vital and ambitious 100-voice community choir that champions great choral music and performs a wide range of repertoire, from great historic masterpieces to newly commissioned works. Drawing on a broad base from across the GTA, the choir has built a loyal following, and continues to broaden its community and deepen its impact as a leading arts organization in the city. Pax Christi Chorale’s overarching aim is to experience the deep joys of choral singing, and to communicate that joy to our audience.

Under the artistic direction of Elaine Choi, Pax Christi Chorale presents four concerts over the 2022/23 season, including "Christmas Through the Ages" and "Children's Messiah" in December; "A Path to Hope", a celebration of Canadian resiliency during the COVID-19 pandemic in March; and "Beethoven’s Silence", featuring Jake Runested’s A Silence Haunts Me and Beethoven’s Mass in C in May. Rehearsals are held Monday nights at the Avenue Road/St. Clair area.

Peterborough Singers 2022The Peterborough Singers is an auditioned 100-voice community choir of adults and youth. We perform four concerts a year: a Yuletide concert, Handel’s Messiah, another oratorio, and one concert dedicated to music outside the box of regular classical programming. Past oratorios have included music by Bach, Verdi, Fauré, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn and many others. Past popular music concerts have been soul, folk, Celtic, Broadway, music by the Beatles, or music highlighting the work of a particular modern composer. Fortunately we are not limited by the lack of availability of sheet music for the popular music we wish to perform because of local associates who are able to create original arrangements for the desired repertoire.

Concerts this season are Yuletide Cheer, Handel’s Messiah, Verdi’s Requiem, and Big Band Music.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from September to the beginning of May at Murray Street Baptist Church in Peterborough. Prior to most rehearsals we provide ongoing educational initiatives which allow interested members to greatly improve their sight-reading or musical skill levels at no additional cost above the yearly membership fee. Auditions take place in May and September.

Salute to Vienna 2021Celebrate the New Year with a joyful spectacle featuring celebrated singers, dazzlingly costumed dancers, and a full symphony orchestra. The exuberant music of Johann Strauss and his contemporaries springs to vibrant life with selections from beloved operettas, elegant dances, lively overtures, and the beautiful Blue Danube Waltz. Salute to Vienna recreates the beloved Neujahrskonzert, hosted each year in Vienna’s legendary Musikverein.

The short, effervescent pieces performed in the concert are brought to life by ballroom dancing and ballet, ushering audiences into the New Year with the charm of the old world.

Toronto Chamber ChoirThe Toronto Chamber Choir has held a prominent place in Canada’s early music scene since 1968. Since 2014, the TCC’s Artistic Director is lutenist Lucas Harris. Past directors have included David Fallis and Mark Vuorinen.

The TCC’s 30 to 40 auditioned singers specialize in performing Renaissance and Baroque repertoire in collaboration with period instrumentalists, though the choir’s themed concerts often include music from other time periods and diverse cultures. Our performances often explore the cultural context of our repertoire using narration and a multimedia component. Since 2014, we’ve run the Toronto Chamber Consort section lead program for professional singers with a special interest in early music, and since 2003, we’ve run an apprenticeship program with Rosedale Heights School for the Arts.

Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at Church of the Transfiguration (Mt. Pleasant/Davisville), with appropriate COVID protocols adjusted by our Health & Safety Committee. The TCC is committed to inclusion and diversity of perspectives within the choir. We welcome audition requests from singers with excellent choral skills at any time through arrangement with the Artistic Director.

The Music GalleryThe Music Gallery is Toronto’s centre for creative music. We present and promote experimentation and innovation in all forms of music, and encourage cross-pollination between genres, disciplines and audiences. Since 1976, we have occupied a valued position within Toronto’s musical ecology, presenting both internationally-renowned contemporary music and a wide spectrum of local artists and projects.

We are now located in the beautiful 918 Bathurst St. Centre for Culture, Arts, Media and Education, though this season most of our programming will be delivered online. We present the “X Avant Festival” during October, and “Emergents” (emerging artists) and “Departures” (off-site) series as well as unique main stage concert experiences throughout our season. We also partner with artists and arts organizations to co-present their work in our space, assisted by our highly experienced technical crew. Our season runs September through June with some off-season events.

Toronto Mendelssohn Choir 2022The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir is pleased to announce its 2022/23 season. After a tumultuous two years for the performing arts, the TMChoir boldly returns with exciting new works, inspiring new faces, and a fresh new look.

This season includes a TMChoir concert at the acclaimed Roy Thomson Hall, an inaugural composer-in-residence, and the introduction of our professional 24-voice ensemble - the Toronto Mendelssohn Singers - who will be featured in two concerts this season.
