In 2017, Canada’s 150th year, the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival takes special note of an abundance of jazzy milestones with a week-long slate of performances by Canada’s elite musicians. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first jazz recording – Livery Stable Blues by the Original Dixieland Jass Band. And what a year 1917 was for important birthdays: Ella, Dizzie, Thelonious and Buddy. For this, the sesquicentennial celebration, No Strings Theatre presents a season comprised entirely of Canadian music theatre. Our summer season hits the ground running with a cabaret adaptation of last season’s Emerging Artist Program production of The Great Canadian Show Tune! This encore performance is a Pride Toronto affiliate fundraising event, Thursday June 29, 7:30pm at Statlers Piano Cocktail Bar. Following this is our third performance in the Denise Williams & Friends theatrical concert series, putting the NST teaching staff into the spotlight as concert headliners.
