AUDITIONS

Toronto Mendelssohn Choir invites experienced amateur choristers, aged 17 and up, with a passion for great choral music to join Canada’s premier symphonic choir. Sing with Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée in an exciting 2024/25 season, which will include a series of TMChoir-produced concerts and guest appearances with the TSO.

Toronto Mendelssohn Choir invites experienced amateur choristers, aged 17 and up, with a passion for great choral music to join Canada’s premier symphonic choir. Sing with Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée in an exciting 2024/25 season, which will include a series of TMChoir-produced concerts and guest appearances with the TSO.

July 17-21. Kaeja d’Dance. Porch View Dances (PVD).. Returning for its 13th year to Toronto’s historic Seaton Village neighbourhood. Founded by Karen Kaeja and developed with Allen Kaeja, this year’s site-specific, outdoor dance event will feature a series of short, original performances performed by everyday people that explore the heart of play – choosing joy over fear, giving into laughter and silliness, and unashamedly embracing our truest selves. Curated by Mayumi Lashbrook, this year’s roving PVD will feature porch performances choreographed by Toronto dancemakers Sid Ryan Eilers, Fer Camacho, and Zita Nyarady. The works, performed by non-professional participants, will be interspersed with short dance vignettes, choreographed by Esie Mensah. The open-air experience will conclude with the premiere of a multifaceted work by Indigenous creator Jim Adams, in partnership with Heryka Miranda (Saturday and Sunday only), coupled with the return of PVD’s interactive finale, Flock Landing – an audience-inclusive gentle movement installation led by Mio Sakamoto. Based in Toronto, The Elmer Iseler Singers and Lydia Adams, Artistic Director, are excited to announce auditions for all voices for core and substitute work with the choir. The Elmer Iseler Singers, established in 1979, is a foremost Canadian professional chamber choir performing a wide range of choral styles and genres, specializing in contemporary Canadian and international repertoire, and is known for its superb musicianship, its spirit of collaboration with organizations nationally, and its educational focus. The choir is looking for choral singers with excellent musicianship and sight-reading skills, and an ability and desire to work closely within the team. Canadian Opera Company. Summer Music Camps. Jul 8–12: Little Company (entering grades 1–3). Jul 15–19: Junior Company (entering grades 4–6). Jul 22–26: Intermediate Company (entering grades 6–8). Jul 29– Aug 2: Senior Company (entering grade 9 to 1st year college/university). Times: 9am–3:30pm (grades 1–8). 9am–4pm (Senior Company). Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St. W. Target: Children and teens, ages 6–18. The COC’s Summer Music Camps invite young creatives from grade 1 through first year university to learn about music, drama, and design. Participants are supported in a creative and non-competitive environment where they learn and experiment with several modes of artistic expression, including singing, composing, movement, drama, and design. In creating their own original work, campers are guided by the COC’s roster  of teaching artists, highly skilled professionals in their respective fields, culminating in a final showcase performance for family and friends. No previous experience with music required. Tuition: $395. Registration for each company is available until the Friday before their first day. UPCOMING EVENTS

July 17-21. Kaeja d’Dance. Porch View Dances (PVD).. Returning for its 13th year to Toronto’s historic Seaton Village neighbourhood. Founded by Karen Kaeja and developed with Allen Kaeja, this year’s site-specific, outdoor dance event will feature a series of short, original performances performed by everyday people that explore the heart of play – choosing joy over fear, giving into laughter and silliness, and unashamedly embracing our truest selves. Curated by Mayumi Lashbrook, this year’s roving PVD will feature porch performances choreographed by Toronto dancemakers Sid Ryan Eilers, Fer Camacho, and Zita Nyarady. The works, performed by non-professional participants, will be interspersed with short dance vignettes, choreographed by Esie Mensah. The open-air experience will conclude with the premiere of a multifaceted work by Indigenous creator Jim Adams, in partnership with Heryka Miranda (Saturday and Sunday only), coupled with the return of PVD’s interactive finale, Flock Landing – an audience-inclusive gentle movement installation led by Mio Sakamoto.
