The Talisker Players’ motto this year is “journeys in words and music”—and their 2016/17 season lives up to its name. An ensemble of instrumentalists that base their concerts on collaborations with local singers and actors, each of their four shows this year features a themed program of chamber music, song and spoken word. Songs of Enchantment (Oct 25 and 26) presents music about magic; ’S Wonderful (Jan 29 and 31) presents hit songs by the Gershwins; Land of the Silver Birch (Mar 28 and 29) celebrates the Canadian sesquicentennial; and A Mixture of Madness (May 16 and 17) explores themes of madness in music from Purcell to the 21st century.
