Our vision is to challenge and thrill the world with operatic theatre through a passionate commitment to adventure, creativity, innovation and excellence.  Our 2001/2002 season opens with two thrilling double-bills.  First we’ve paired Puccini’s Il tabarro with Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana in a new production directed by Tom Diamond and designed by Teresa Przybylski.  Next, the international sensation of Robert Lepage’s production of Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Schoenberg’s Erwartung is back for another gravity- and mind-defying engagement.  In the winter we’re bringing back Atom Egoyan’s astonishing Salome and pairing it with a Rossini delight: Il viaggio a Reims – a work of vocal pyrotechnics and madcap comedy featuring Canadian tenor Michael Schade.  To close the season next spring we have Russia’s greatest opera, Boris Godunov starring Gidon Saks, and Handel’s most popular opera Julius Caesar starring Ewa Podle?, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Daniel Taylor and Brian Asawa.
