Jul 14 7:30: Elora Festival. The Elora Singers: Music in the Woods. Join us for a “musical sound walk” with The Elora Singers. Art and nature mingle to create a unique sensory experience. Audience members will be transported by bus to and from a nearby trail, where their hike will be enhanced by performances by The Elora Singers. The hike is 1-2 km, through a wooded trail, and will take approximately 45 minutes to walk. The entire event, including transportation, is approximately one hour. Please wear comfortable walking shoes appropriate for a forested area. Please note that this is not an accessible event: neither the bus nor the trail are accessible for mobility device users. Due to the nature of this outdoor event, it may be cancelled or postponed due to weather. In case of weather disruptions, we will contact participants via email. Written in 1921 by Canadian-born composer Nathaniel Dett, The Chariot Jubilee is a free fantasia based on the spiritual Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Building on the original message of the spiritual, Dett wrote additional lyrics to make the cantata a hymn of hope and a call for a better tomorrow. Led by the Director of Choral Studies at the University of Toronto, Dr. Jamie Hillman and Rachael Kerr, piano. Session 1: July 31 - August 4. Session 2: August 7 - August 11. Kincardine Summer Music Festival. KSMF Vocal Retreat 2023. A chance to retreat into the beauty of music and song for a whole week! Twice! Come learn about the wonders of singing alongside other like-minded individuals. Participants are welcome to sign up for both sessions, as each week will be different in terms of musical focus. Geared towards the singer who is 55 years of age or more, these week-long sessions are designed to provide solid vocal and musical instruction as well as enjoyable ensemble performance opportunities. Each day is divided into 4 blocks: a practical approach to healthy vocal technique, group technique and vocal work, music preparation and critique, and ensemble-focused singing. Participants in each session will work together as an ensemble to rehearse and perform a choral piece. Spaces are limited to 24 participants per session. $220 per session *includes Festival T-shirt.
