September 15 to 17
Described as “wildly successful” by The Globe and Mail, the inaugural Kensington Market Jazz Festival debuted in style the second weekend of September 2016, when over 200 Toronto musicians performed over 100 shows at nine venues in Kensington Market. Founder Molly Johnson and her team developed this festival to celebrate the neighbourhood’s cultural history, as well as Toronto’s world-class musical fabric of professional musicians. The festival is a not-for-profit organization committed to presenting live musical excellence, and to date has supported The Stephen Lewis Foundation, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, St. Stephen’s Community Centre and the Archie Alleyne Scholarship Fund charities. The 2017 edition will take place September 15 to 17. See website for updates.
