of Toronto 2007-2008 MEMBER PROFILES The Christmas Opera Company of Toronto, a not-for-profit corporation, was formed with the goal of producing twenty performances every year of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Christmas opera, “Amahl and the Night Visitors”. The opera is about a poor crippled boy who lives alone with his mother. One day they are paid an unexpected visit by the wise men who are following the eastern star in a quest to see a child they believe to be the King of Kings. Inspired by the wise men, and in the true spirit of Christmas, Amahl offers his crutch as a gift to the newborn king and is miraculously healed.
