2007-2008 MEMBER PROFILES

The year 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Music Competition, as well as the return of the International Stepping Stone.
 
The CMC is a is a national organization working in the field of classical music with the goal of supporting and encouraging young Canadian performers, providing them the opportunities to measure themselves against the most demanding standards, and giving them financial assistance through scholarships. Since its creation in 1958, the CMC has been witness to an ongoing stream of thousands of young musicians, among them, some of the greatest names on the national and international scene today, including Marc-André Hamelin, Chantal Juillet, Louis Lortie, Martin Beaver, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, André Laplante, Gwen Hoebig, Richard Raymond, Susan Hoeppner, Stéphane Lemelin, Angela Cheng, Boris Brott, Desmond Hoebig, Angela Hewitt and Janina Fialkowska, etc.
 
The Toronto & Ontario rounds will be held at The George Ignatieff Theatre of U of T, from May 3 to 15, 2008, and the National Final will be held in Quebec City. Registration deadline: November 22, 2007.
