Elora Festival Singers
2005-2006 Profile

The Elora Festival Singers are considered one of the world’s finest professional chamber choirs, according to British reviewer David Vernier. The Singers, founded by Noel Edison in 1980, form the principal vocal ensemble for the Elora Festival. The choir’s activities have expanded to include the popular Winter Series in Toronto and Elora, as well as touring and recording. Rich, warm sound and clarity of texture are their hallmarks. The Singers’ second CD, The Mystery of Christmas was nominated for a Juno Award and has sold more than 135,000 copies. An outstanding new recording featuring the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams is now available. In addition, their recording of Arvo Pärt’s Berliner Messe reached number six on the UK Classical Charts. The Singers make up the professional core of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the newly established Mendelssohn Singers.
