The Toronto Consort, Canada’s leading period ensemble specializing in medieval and renaissance music, celebrates its 30th anniversary during this season. When founded in 1972, The Toronto Consort was the only professional ensemble in the city offering a subscription series dedicated to early music. David Fallis, The Toronto Consort’s Artistic Director since 1990, has crafted a celebratory 30th anniversary season offering a wide range of period music. Programs feature  Sir Gawain and the Green Knight  — words and music inspired by Arthurian legend on October 4 & 5 in Toronto; October 6 in Guelph; a solo recital by soprano Suzie LeBlanc entitled La Cecchina, November 8 & 9; The Christmas Story by Heinrich Schütz on December 13 and 14;  Monteverdi’s Orfeo featuring tenor Charles Daniels on February 21 & 22; and a 30th anniversary gala with guest violinist David Greenberg on April 4 and 5
in Toronto, April 6 in Guelph.

The Toronto Consort’s newest disc on the Dorian label is called Mariners and Milkmaids, and features dances, ballads and madrigals from Shakespeare's England.
