Opera in Concert is a unique Canadian company dedicated to Canadian Artists and innovative programming, defying traditional assumptions about operatic presentation, relying only on the power and beauty of the human voice accompanied by orchestra or piano. Our season begins on October 27 with :A Canadian Gala Concert,” a tribute to Canada’s composers and their operas, featuring Jane Archibald, Jeffrey Carl, Eric Shaw, Laura Whelan and Music Director John Hess. Rossini's Semiramide is next on December 1, featuring Jane Archibald, Lynn McMurtry, Charles Baxter, Eric Shaw and Music Director Sandra Horst. Our orchestral program follows on February 8 and 9 with Rameau's Castor et Pollux, with Joshua Hopkins, Colin Ainsworth, Meredith Hall, Monica Whicher, Giles Tomkins, Renée Winick and the Aradia Ensemble with Conductor Kevin Mallon. OIC concludes its season on April 6 with Bellini’s Beatrice de Tenda, featuring Susan Eyton-Jones, Marcel van Neer, Jonathan Carle, Lauren Segal, with Music Director Dixie Ross Neill.
