The Sacred Music Society is Toronto’s largest sacred choir dedicated solely to the performance of sacred music.  It is a 100-mixed-voice community choir, founded in 1996, and conducted by F. Uwe Liefländer.  The Sacred Music Society’s particular charisma is the nurturing of beautiful traditional church music, most especially in liturgical context but also in concert.  Repertoire focuses on works from Gregorian chant through the late Romantic era, and many works are performed with the professional orchestra of the Etobicoke Symphony/Sinfonia Sacra.

The Sacred Music Society also includes a semi-professional Chamber Choir, and is currently facilitating the establishment of the 500-voice World Youth Day Choir.  The Sacred Music Society always welcomes new choristers with a love of sacred music.  During its season, the choir rehearses every Monday evening from 8:00-10:00 pm at St. Cecilia’s Church in Toronto.  Requirements to join? – faith, hope, charity, and a good voice.
