Canada’s two premier concert halls present the finest performers of classical, pop, jazz, and world music from around the globe. 

Highlights of the 2001/2002 season include such celebrated singers as American soprano Kathleen Battle; Canadian tenor Ben Heppner; American soprano Barbara Bonney; and a concert The Next Generation, featuring three of Canada’s hottest young singers: sopranos Measha Brüggergossman and Jane Archibald and bass Robert Pomakov.  Also appearing are two great orchestras: St. Petersburg-based Kirov Orchestra led by the charismatic Valery Gergiev and the world-renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with the phenomenal young American violinist Hilary Hahn. The internationally celebrated Quebec City ensemble Les Violons du Roy present their unique version of Handel’s Messiah, featuring soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian, countertenor Daniel Taylor, tenor Benjamin Butterfield and baritone Paul Harvey. 

Other highlights include the jazz concert of the year featuring Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker and Roy Hargrove; Gypsy Caravan 2, showcasing gypsy music and dance from India, Macedonia, Romania and Spain; and a concert by the legendary Argentinian singer Mercedes Sosa.
