The Choir usually performs with full orchestra or instrumental ensemble but is also noted for its challenging a cappella performances. Founded 27 years ago, the Amadeus Choir has been conducted by Lydia Adams for the past 16 seasons. In 1987 Ms. Adams created the annual Christmas Carol and Chanukah Song Writing Competition, which serves as an encouragement for composers of all ages and levels of experience to create new works and expand Canada’s outstanding choral tradition. The Choir has also commissioned and performed several works by prominent Canadian composers. The Choir has produced two CDs, Ring-a
the News! and Songs of the Spirit, and has collaborated with the Hannaford
Street Silver Band on two other CDs produced by CBC Records.
