Lydia AdamsDuring Lydia Adams’ 15 years of leadership, the Amadeus Choir has become one of Canada’s pre-eminent choral groups. Founded 25 years ago, this 120-member Choir is in its seventh season as Choir in Residence at the George Weston Recital Hall, presenting a regular series of works by Canadian and international composers.

In addition to this series, the Choir collaborates with other ensembles, such as the TSO, the Hannaford Street Silver Band, the Brantford Symphony, and the Scarborough Philharmonic. The Choir also performs benefit concerts and has competed in the prestigious biennial CBC Choral Competition, where it won awards in 1992, 1994 and 1996.

The Choir’s annual Christmas Carol and Chanukah Song Writing Competition, begun in 1987, now draws entries world-wide, and serves as a springboard for composers of all ages and experience. The Choir’s first CD, Ring-a the News!, features a number of competition entries.
